Dr. Agasthian is a Thoracic surgeon who specializes in noncardiac general thoracic surgery and especially lung cancer. He was the lead surgeon for the first lung transplant carried out in Singapore in 2000. Dr. Agasthian currently practices at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. Procedures that he performs include surgery for benign and malignant lung, pleural and mediastinal diseases, minimally invasive thoracic surgery (VATS), pulmonary metastasectomy, esophageal surgery for benign and malignant cancers, tracheal and airway surgery for cancers and benign strictures, lung transplantation, and robotic thoracic surgery for thymectomy and tumors. He is going to be an invited faculty demonstrating advanced Thoracic and Robotic procedures in the workshop in SELSICON 2019.
Enrico Ruffini is Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Torino, Italy. He is involved in the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, presently as officer in the role of Director of the ESTS annual meeting for the years 2014-2017. In the ESTS, he is also the chair of the ESTS thymic working group. He is also a reviewer for many reputed international journals and has contributed to several textbooks on thoracic surgery His special interests are Thoracic Surgical Oncology, Thymic Diseases and Lung Transplantation. He is also going to be an invited faculty demonstrating advanced Thoracic and Robotic procedures in the workshop in SELSICON 2019 Diego Gonzalez-Rivas specializes in Thoracic Surgery particularly lung transplantation at Coruña University Hospital. He is an active member of lung transplantation program. He was the creator of Minimally invasive thoracic surgery Unit (UCTMI) working at Quiron Hospital, San Rafael and Modelo HM medical center. He was pioneer surgeon in the world performing uniportal VATS anatomic resections non-intubated uniportal major pulmonary resections and Unisurgeon Uniportal VATS technique. He is also expert in complex uniportal VATS carinal and bronchovascular sleeve reconstructions. He has published more than 100 papers describing these procedures and the results in the most important medical journals and textbooks of thoracic surgery. He is going to be an invited faculty demonstrating advanced Thoracic and Robotic procedures in the workshop in SELSICON 2019. Mr Marco Scarci practice is in pure thoracic surgery. He works closely with a large team including other surgeons, specialist nurses, radiologists and physicians. Mr Scarci’s areas of major interest are resection of locally advanced cancer, malignant mesothelioma, rehabilitation after thoracic surgery and clinical trials. Mr Scarci is actively involved with the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons where he leads the chest wall database, pleural malignancies and chest wall working groups. His Research interests are in Enhanced recovery in thoracic surgery, chest wall surgery, minimally invasive surgery. He is going to be an invited faculty demonstrating advanced Thoracic and Robotic procedures in the workshop in SELSICON 2019 Harish Mithiran Muthiah is a thoracic surgeon in the Department of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at the National University Hospital Singapore. He joined the National University Hospital Singapore in 2009 where he began his training in cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Harish has a strong passion for mentoring and training cardiothoracic residents and is currently the Assistant Programme Director for the NUH Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Program. His main interest is in VATS surgery for lung pathologies, surgery for diseases of the chest wall and thoracic trauma. He is also going to be an invited faculty demonstrating advanced Thoracic procedures in the workshop in SELSICON 2019. Dr. Narasimman Sathiamurthy currently practices as a Consultant Thoracic & General Surgeon in the Thoracic Unit of the Department of Surgery, Kuala Lumpur Hospital. He was awarded MD (UPM) by UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA and Specialist Degree of MMED SURGERY (USM) in the UNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA. His specialization is Thoracic surgery and is an invited faculty demonstrating advanced Thoracic and Robotic procedures in the workshop in SELSICON 2019. Dr Vlad Burdakov from the Russian Federation specialises in advanced and complex hernia procedures including AWR. In the field of AWR, travels extensively across the world and conducts global workshops, courses and conferences. He specializes in PCS-Abdominal Wall Reconstruction and other Component Separation techniques and is part of the first global group of surgeons performing and publishing the results of the eTEPTAR retromuscular repairs. He is going to be an invited faculty demonstrating advanced AWR procedures in the workshop in SELSICON 2019 and is sure to inspire many surgeons with his meticulous and impeccable techniques. Dr. Danny Rosin finished his surgical residency in the Sheba Medical Center, and the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and his fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida. He currently works as a general surgery residency coordinator and an attending surgeon in Sheba Medical Center, Tel Aviv. Dr. Rosin maintains his special interest is advanced laparoscopic surgery, he is busy also with hernia surgery particularly AWR, endocrine surgery, colorectal surgery, and acute care surgery. Dr. Rosin is also an editor of the World Journal of Surgery since 2009 and is going to be an invited faculty demonstrating advanced Hernia procedures in the workshop in SELSICON 2019 Dr Sadir Alrawi is currently the Director of all Surgical Oncology Services at Alzahra Cancer Center in the Heart of Dubai that hosts highly specialized surgical oncology subspecialties, including Colorectal, Breast oncology, Head & Neck Surgery, Urology, Gynecological Oncology, Sarcoma/ Melanoma and Peritoneal surface malignancy, in addition to pancreatic and hepatic surgery. Dr Alrawi major interest is Gastrointestinal Oncology, including Esophageal, Gastric, Pancreas, Liver and colonic surgery with special interest in endocrine surgery including thyroid , parathyroid and adrenal surgery. Dr Alrawi has published many papers in peer reviewed journals,made many presentations in local, national and international meetings and published many book chapters. Dr. Lilian Kow is a senior consultant surgeon at Flinders Medical Centre and Clinical Associate Professor at Flinders University of South Australia. She has been involved in training surgeons in bariatric surgery nationally and internationally. Together with Professor Jim Toouli, she introduced the Swedish Adjustable gastric band to Australia and is internationally one of the leading investigators of vagal block therapy for the treatment of obesity. Lilian is a council member of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO), President of the IFSO-Asia Pacific Chapter and the past president of the Australian and New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS). Dr Layani started his formal training in laparoscopic surgery in France (1990). Since being admitted to the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 1998, he has been honored by numerous national and international institutions for his role as an educator and facilitator for new developments in bariatric surgery. He is currently a major contributor to research being done in the US regarding new surgical treatments for obesity. A number of highly respected surgeons around Australia and the world have completed varying components of their formal training under his guidance and many have gone on to establish themselves in private practice. He was the head surgeon for Weight Loss Solutions Australia (WLSA) at John Flynn Private Hospital in Queensland, Australia and has been in private practice for over 12 years. His WLSA multidisciplinary model for onsite assessment, care, and support is the hallmark standard for pre and post-operative clinical management of a bariatric patient. His centre of excellence approach to the treatment of obesity and co-morbid complications is a major factor in his extremely low complication rates and positive patient outcomes. MANOEL GALVÃO NETO He was the first to perform: an endoscopic removal of the gastric band; placement of the intragastric air balloon; procedures of transluminal surgery through natural orifices in animals, which was the second human transgastric procedure in the world; and was also the first to perform the implant of a endoluminial endoscopic duodenum-jejunal bypass GI Sleeve® / EndoBarrier®, which is being studied by the FDA and CE. With regard to potential conflicts of interests, Dr. Galvão Neto acts as the national and international scientific consultant of the companies Biomedica®, Ethicom EndoSurgery® e GI Dynamics®.
